Dasypus novemcinctus
Armored digger that leaves clawed, almost bird-like prints and shallow nose holes.
1.5–2 in. Long claw impressions dominate. Front foot shows two large central claws. Tail drag common. Cone-shaped snout digs in soil.
Bottomlands, brush, lawns, pine woods. Southern U.S. and spreading north; Central and South America.

Armadillos almost always give birth to identical quadruplets.
