A day-active tropical raccoon relative that travels in noisy bands.
1.5–2.5 in. Five long toes with strong claws. Flat-footed hind print. Many overlapping tracks — they travel in groups. Rooting marks in leaf litter.
Canyon woodland, tropical forest. Arizona and New Mexico south through Central America.

Fruit, invertebrates, lizards, eggs
Adult males travel alone — early naturalists thought they were a separate species.
Should I be concerned?
Don't feed. Habituated bands can get grabby.
