Feral hog. Rounded cloven prints plus torn-up, rototilled ground.
2–3 in long. Cloven but rounded and splayed. Dewclaws print wide, outside the main toes. Rooting damage and wallows nearby. Trail wanders while feeding.
Bottomland forest, farmland, brush. Across the southern U.S. and spreading; native to Eurasia.
Nocturnal where hunted
Roots, mast, crops, eggs, carrion
A boar's dewclaws sit low and print beside the hoof — deer dewclaws sit higher.
Should I be concerned?
Can be aggressive if cornered or with piglets. Back away and give them an exit.
